INFORMATION AND DIRECTIONS

Welcome to the first annual Houston Slide Fest and Show! The show will take place at the historical 1940 Air Terminal Museum at Houston's Hobby Airport on October 14th and 15th. This is a very special place where not only will you get to visit a super interesting museum, you will have the ability to actually take photographs from the museum's ramp, which is accessible to all museum guests. There are no hassles, no worries, and it's fence-free, right next to active taxiways! The museum is special itself as it has a variety of aircraft to tour! Of course, we will have many visitors from around the slide world bringing in thousands of great aviation slides for trading and selling. Many thanks to Mr. Michael Bludworth and the 1940 Air Terminal Museum, Mr. Jeffrey DeVore, and the IAH Spotters Group for assisting me in organizing this slide fest!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

 

$10.00 admission

(Includes slide fest participation, Museum admission, ramp access (museum ramp only), slide show and auction, and any tours)

 

SATURDAY OCTOBER 14, 2006

10:00 AM TO 5:00 PM - SLIDE TRADING AND SELLING (RAMP OPEN TO VISITORS)

6:00 PM TO 8:00 PM - DINNER (either at the museum or a nearby restaurant arrangement)

8:00 PM TO 11:00 PM - DIGITAL SHOW, SLIDE SHOW, PHOTO CONTEST***, AND SLIDE AUCTION****

*** PLEASE BRING YOUR FAVORITE PHOTO (DIGITAL OR SLIDE) FOR DISPLAY. WE WILL VOTE FOR THE BEST PHOTO AND PHOTOGRAPHER WILL WIN A PRIZE. THIS WILL BE DURING AN INTERMISSION IN OUR SLIDE SHOW! MAKE THE PHOTO IN 4 X 6 SIZE.

****SLIDE AUCTION PARTICIPANTS, PLEASE LIMIT YOUR SLIDES TO 20 FOR THE FIRST ROUND. WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A SIGN UP SHEET FOR YOUR SLIDES.

HERE ARE A COUPLE OF VIEWS FROM OUR MOST RECENT EVENT

Here is a shot from the top of the terminal tower of one of the Museum visitors. The terminal ramp makes a great photo location...no fences...no ladders...no hassles....just do not cross the yellow line and the marker cones!
The museum's own Lockheed Lodestar (Airworthy too!). It is a beautiful museum (in process of additional restoration) depicting a good history of aviation specially Texas aviation history! The museum has plenty of free parking so come on down with your slides! Bring your camera and take pictures of the Museum. You can submit your pictures for display! Great unobstructed photography from the different vantage points of the Museum. This was shot during mid-day but since the museum is on the west end, the afternoon action shots will be even better!
Lots of aviation displays as well as a gift shop!!!!!! Plenty of great original slides will be available!!!!!!
